Business Guardian "Clean, Green and Serene" Series

Carbon Capture Use and Storage (CCUS)

Chronology of Activities

Our projects to date include:

2017: Two seminars run in conjunction with the University of Trinidad and Tobago

2018 to present: Guidance provided to Renaissance Energy Limited (REL) toward assisting them in converting their field into a totally Green field by Carbon Capture, Usage and Storage (CCUS) and re-injecting all produced fluids into the formations. REL has received a CEC and expects to convert its pilot Huff n Puff project into a full field WAG flood by Q1 2021.

2021: Start of an initiative to implement phase one of a CCUS project with the goal of obtaining 40 mmcfd of CO2 from two CO2 emitters and planning and implementing CCUS programmes in oilfields in South West Trinidad Onshore and Offshore.

Look Ahead...

Going forward we intend to:

Expand the phase one project to include collection of all of the large single point emissions of CO2, compression and distribution to all of T&Ts oil and gas fields for sequestration.  It is recognised that in producing fields, a percentage (45%) of the CO2 injected will not be sequestered but be produced with the hydrocarbon fluids. Provisions will be made in each field for the collection, separation compression and re-injection of the CO2 into each field.

Conduct seminars and workshops to educate oil and gas fields operators in T&T on the need to sequester CO2 and the benefits that can accrue to them via improved oil and gas recovery

Assist oil and gas fields operators in T&T in the execution of CCUS projects by providing technical and consulting services.

We will educate the general population of T&T by:

Disseminating information via social media including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and the internet.

Providing facilities and assistance for the development of the country and careers of our people by establishing a research institute; the Green Technology Research Centre.

The Centre will conduct seminars and workshops and give talks and lectures to groups like schools, NGO’s,  government agencies and the general public to educate them on our initiatives, to foster a sense of social responsibility and on their need to do their parts in execution of the goals of the foundation.

We will also provide other programmes such as:

- Apprenticeship programmes

- In-service training

- Career guidance
